If you are looking for an exercise that has all round benefits then spinning may be what you are looking for.
And If you are a regular spinner then you will feel the buzz you get both inside and outside but how much do you actually know about what you are actually getting from your class?
For those who are new to spin then in a nut shell you are on a stationary bike in a class full of peeps on a stationary bike and basically you cycle for approx 45 mins , some beginner classes start at 30 mins and the instructor sits at the front on their bike and directs you throughout the class.
Iv put together the amazingness of spinning which iv been doing now 3x a week for going on 5 years.
These are all the benefits of spinning
A spin class of 45 minutes can help you burn around 500 calories, which is a huge amount when compared to other types of workout. The amount of calories you burn will depend on the intensity of the workout and the teacher.
2.)Build Muscle Tone
The spinning workout may help you build muscle tone. The one i do focuses on the core muscles, as well as the buttocks and thighs. You can increase and decrease the tension of the bike even during a class ,you can tailor it to your pace which mimics riding up and down a hill. While you pedal, you will work your thighs and calves. If you maintain the correct position on the bike which most instructors will show you , you will also work on your abdominal muscles and arms. When you pedal faster, you are likely to burn fat. Im literally dripping thriughout the class something i dont get with other cardio classes .When you pedal slower and have a higher tension, you will work your muscles this helps to have an amazing instructor who will keep you motivated throughout.
3.)Increased Cardio Endurance
I opt for regular spinning classes 3x a week, which can build increased cardio endurance. This is beneficial, especially if you feel weaker and start panting even after an insignificant effort, such as climbing a flight of stairs. It’s a brilliant cardio experience and you can slowly build yourself up at your pace. Working as hard as you choose.
4.)Low Impact Exercise
A spinning workout is a low impact exercise. This means that it won’t put pressure on knees and joints, as other aerobic or running exercises do. And is recommended for people with athritis.
Any type of exercise is known to relieve stress, but a spinning class can be a more efficient stress reliever than most types of exercise. This is due to the fact that the workout is an extremly intensive workout (i often get my thinking cap on in the class and feel invigorated as soon as we finish and mentally refreshed ) the class is pretty social too and with a good instructor like mine it can be a team effet and fun.
The one I go to the lights are off and it has disco lights which sounds corny but it’s a lot of fun with loud music blasting and really wakes me up in the morning .
6.)Reduced Risks of Injury
While running and jogging may present a high risk of injury, a spinning class is less likely to cause any injuries. However, it’s recommended to stretch prior to the class, so that you don’t pull any muscles and always listen to your body.
It’s also important to drink throughout the session , I take water in and sip on it throughout to keep hydrated.
The stationary bike will have adjustable tensions, which you can change during the class enabling you to be in control and go at your own pace.the teacher can indicate when to change the tension, or you can adjust it according to your abilities and fitness goals at the time or how you feel on the day.
8.)Can Be Done all Year Round
I attend all year long as it’s an indoor class
The one I go to is at the local leisure centre in Sale Cheshire Manchester it’s £6 per class or £25 per month for the membership (absolute bargain) that £25 gives access to all unlimited classes and gym and swimming check out here for more details
